I could have done more turns around the string, the knot would still be magic.

It's the same beginning as the "magic knot" (and the same end, because it's a "magic knot" ...). So, with your right stick, you pass above the left stick, then under the diabolo (but begin between you and the diab) then above the left stick again. Then, you can make with the right stick some turns around the strings. Throw the diabolo by the exterior. The knot will disappear, and you can catch it back normally
